Dungeon Crusader
The Fantasy Board Game of Unlimited Dungeon Delving
Dungeon Crusader is an incredible fantasy board game of Dungeon exploration that takes players on a journey into the perilous Ebon Labyrinth on a quest to recover the fabled Crown of Souls.
Along the way they can face fearsome monsters to fight, fiendish traps to avoid, strange locations to explore, challenging events, and of course, mountains of gold coins and treasure!
A Different Game Every Time !
Dungeon Crusader works with players laying out an original map of the Dungeon using Dungeon Tiles. Every player can help to shape the twists and turns of the Dungeon. Then, through adventuring, draw Cards for Encounters.
With 100 different Encounter Cards, the sheer variety of challenges to face is enormous. Conquering many of these challenges gains rewards, especially Treasure! The game has a further 100 Treasure Cards that supply everything from a humble dagger to powerful magical swords, from a dead rat to precious jewelry, from skeleton keys to masterwork Dragonscale Armour, and so much more!
As if this wasn’t enough, there are also 60 Edge Cards which allow players to shape the flow of the game, and can change the circumstances of any given Encounter for good or ill. They can even provide side quests!
Add into this a magic system of 40 Spells and 40 Prayers and suddenly magic flashes around from Adventurers and Enemies alike.
Not Just a Game… A Game Engine!
Dungeon Crusader is an incredibly versatile game. While it is ideal to be played between 2 and 6 players, it can also be played solo!
The way this works is the cards themselves guide the action of the game. So, while it is fun to play with others, you can have the experience of the adventure all by yourself. And playing together you can play competitively, cooperatively, or chop and change as the mood of the game shifts. (Watch out for betrayal!)
The game also invites different ways to play it, such as the Rapid Exploration style, the Arena style, the Simultaneous Play style, Gamesmaster Moderated style (turning the game into an RPG), the Campaign style, and more!
This means you not only have the game, but you have a highly adaptable game engine to develop in the way that you and your friends prefer to play, while still holding the integrity and the action of the game system.
Add into this that Dungeon Crusader has many expansions available and more to come means new objectives, new endgames, new themes, and new challenges, and even more ways to play.
Dungeon Crusader may not be the only game that you would ever want to play, but you will want to come back again and again for more and more.
Create Your Adventurer!
Dungeon Crusader comes with a range of 20 pregenerated Character Cards, allowing you to get started straight away. However, the game also comes with a Character Creation Guide and many options to design the kind of Adventurer to exactly the kind that appeals to you!
Not only that, the Character Creation system allows you to mix and match Skills to tailor them to exactly the kind of Character you would like to play! Want to create a Warrior / Priest? Or a Paladin / Thief? Or a Bard / Necromancer? What about an Exorcist / Merchant / Escapologist / Wizard? All this and more is possible with the incredibly flexible system to generate characters. What is more, you may even want to invent your own Skills for your Adventurer to have. Just make sure that your fellow players agree that the Skill you have created balances well with your style of play.
Easily Playable with Unpredictable Moments
Dungeon Crusader has been designed to be quick to learn and play. Most players get the hang of it after only a round or two of playing. You don’t have to understand how everything works to begin with, a just a few basic rules.
But then the game itself will start to teach you about what is possible. With every turn of a new card, new challenges and opportunities open up, and your Character may start to be able to achieve more things than what it could before.
Before you know it, a new player will have some expertise in playing the game, and then watch out as the strategist may start to emerge.
Sometimes the combinations of cards emerge in strange and unpredictable ways to create some quite unexpected and unforgettable moments. The moments that the stuff of legends is made from!
Many Expansions… Many Possibilities
Dungeon Crusader was designed to allow for expansions to this game setting and world, and boy are there expansions!
At the time of release there are 6 Expansion packs available, and many more to come.
Each expansions finds a way to enhance or deepen parts of the game, and introduces new themes, new challenges, new ways to play, and of course, lots of new monsters and treasures!
